Shatner Day 2008
Saturday 22 March 2008

Charles, Dan, and Katie came over to watch a random assortment of movies in celebration of Shatner's birthday. Throughout the day we watched Adventures in Babysitting, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Short Circuit, *batteries not included, and The Cat's Meow. Save for the last, we basically had an eighties movie marathon.

We also baked a Depression-era egg-less cake to satisfy Chuck's ardent Lent requirements, which expired at midnight. It was tasty but we put way too much frosting on it to cover the fact that we can't make a cake. Luckily, Katie came to the rescue with a Jell-o cake that was simply delish and expertly made. Our Depression cake was depressing in comparison.

Attendees: Josh Gulch, Charles Meyer, Dan Norton, and Katie Mihaly.

The frosting just sort of oozed and looked indecent.

Dan took charge and showed us what we were doing wrong.

Charles spackles on the frosting to try and hide the misshapen cake beneath.

Working on the detailing. Today we learned how difficult frosting is to work with.

God this cake is just the saddest thing ever. I feel like we should put it out of its misery.

Luckily Katie came to the rescue with a Jell-o cake that was nice and even throughout.

Oh, and Josh was there too.

The time has come for depression. Mr. T is on hand to supervise.

Depression cake is good for Charles. Yes it is! Yes it is!

Dan samples his depression cake, taking in its thick texture and the rich taste of stock market collapse.

Katie eats her depression cake and goes into diabetic shock from the sheer amount of sugar in the frosting.

Charles just got a mouthful of frosting.

A tender moment as Charles cradles Mr. T to sleep, alone in the basement, reading excerpts from Shatner's "Get a Life."

The discomfort is evident in Katie's face upon hearing what Charles was doing downstairs.

Charles and Mr. T establish a bond that is greater than friendship, greater than love.

Not even Dan knows what to make of this sort of behavior.

Though he seems perfectly comfortable and just chipper as heck once he and T come together.

Charles became infected with a deep sorrow once Mr. T abandoned him for Dan.

Dan performs The Robot just before leaving. Maybe it's for the best then.

Josh is not often one to agree with many things.

Thus ends the excitement of Shatner Day 2008. Mr. T bids you good night and good luck, sucka'.
