Independence Day 2008
Friday 4 July 2008

Once again the Malcolms threw a shindig with fireworks and danger on the Fourth of July. These are the exciting adventures of how each of us basked in the extremely noisy glow of the Freedom Eagle, spreading its wings o'er the land. Or whatever. It's a reason to blow crap up.

Attendees: Ian Malcolm, James Malcolm, Mimi Malcolm, Mike Gillespie, Charles Meyer, Dan Norton, Josh Gulch.

Despite never straying more than ten feet from one another, Mike and Dan didn't exchange even five words all evening.

Charles does not think very much of you.

So obviously Josh was there. Might as well get that over with soon as possible.

So what happens whenever there's more than one camera present? You know the drill.

Charles has something awesome that he'd like to sell you.

This is the most I saw of James for the longest time.

Ian runs from what may have been the mortar that misfired, that nobody photographed because we were too busy cowering.

James cranes his eyes towards the sky as wave after wave of bombers emerge from the clouds.

James watches for the golden moment when Dan blows himself up.

I find it incredibly interesting that Dan quickly backs away from the lit firework while everybody else turns and runs from the launch tube.

Ian performs his duty, capturing every trivial event for extensive analysis later.

"Look, oh look everybody! There is Charles! Do you see? Do you see Charles? He is right here, adjacent from me!"

"Well did you see him? Did you see Charles? He was just here! He just went that way! Oh my what a sight."

"He went that way guys! I'm gonna go get him. Wait here!"

Not even Mimi knew what Dan was so excited about.

Reprising the plastic bottle stuffed with explosives and bug spray trick from 2004. This time the bottle shrunk from the conflagration within.

Mmmm-mmmm! Dan enjoys some tasty chocolate cheesecake.

This is Dan's butt in Ian's bedroom.

Ian looks over his photos from the evening, noting that all Josh does is take pictures of everything.

Of course, what's the first thing Charles does after spending an evening outside? Hack into the Inter-Nets.

Ian and Tiger share a tender moment.

Ian's first yawn is like the chiming of the bell. The night is over and all are sent on their ways.
