Ice Cream Outing
Saturday 6 June 2009

So Dan, Katie, and Josh found themselves in a pickle: a whole Saturday to fill and no real plan of action. Katie suggested an expedition to the ice cream shop on the other side of the Ottawa River. Of course, to get there from my house meant a round trip of nearly four miles. Bound and determined to earn that ice cream, we decided to hoof it on foot rather than drive which, in the end, also benefits us in burning off the calories from the ice cream. Once we got back the three of us watched Lost in Translation and called it a night.

The opening stages. Planning for the trip by acclimating ourselves to the wild outdoors.

Josh doesn't know what to make of this crazy world what with its animals and giant burning ball of gas.

We saw a big heron or a crane or some other large waterfowl. We thought it was a statue until it moved.

Katie and Dan walk away from Dan's dream car and maybe-not-so-wise investment.

Here's a picture of Katie eating for no other reason than Dan being stubborn and Katie being all like, "I don't care if there's a picture of me eating." So here it is.

Josh and his dang delicious slushie.

Because of Dan's poor attitude toward Josh's hobbies, it became a game of trying to photograph Dan eating.

I guess we'll have to settle for Dan sipping away at his milkshake.

Here's my super-artsy picture that represents the loneliness of Daniel.

Wait, you know what would make this better? If it were in black and white.

The sea reminds Katie of lost loves and shattered dreams.

At least, when I tell her it does.

Here's a large colony of ants going about their dutiful business. Even then, this wasn't all of them.

We thought the left side of this cloud formation looked like a barking dog head.

Dan insisted that the right side of the cloud made this CatDog.

Back indoors at long last, to rest our tired feet and get all that fresh air out of our lungs.

There is an old Indian proverb that says that a Dan and his Kleenex are not easily parted.

Katie won't have any more of this picture nonsense. She's too busy.

Josh has nothing more to say. The sun and elements of the great outdoors have robbed him of his senses.

Katie wanted to know how far we walked so I ran it through Gmaps Pedometer. I don't even know why I'm posting the map.
