Retrieving Carey
Saturday 10 January 2009

Shawn and Carey had taken a winter holiday in Colorado and, wouldn't you know it, the lad decided to return in the middle of the year's worst blizzard. It had been snowing for two days already, so the trip to the Detroit airport wasn't a fun one to make. A very trusting Charles accompanied Josh on the trip to retrieve Carey.

So this was one of those nights where driving is maybe not such a good idea.

There was a ridiculously long line leading up to the terminal once we got to the airport, so we sat there for a good half hour waiting. Turns out there were actually a few openings in front of the terminal that we were too blind to know about.

Charles approaches sitting in line with the same dogged determination as if he were hunting Nazi war criminals through the woods armed only with a Bowie knife.

And so we waited, for naught. And so Charles strove for more camera angles.

Eventually we just called Carey to apprise him of the situation. He elected to walk out to us instead of waiting for us to come to him.

And so we set our first eyes upon the boy. He had weathered the elements intact and reached the relative comfort of our noble carriage.

Of course the first thing we did was attach electrodes to his fingertips. There will be none of his filthy speak during the ride home.

At least the snow finally stopped.
