A Titanic Memorial

Date: 6 May 2002.
Medium: Pencil on paper.

There was a discussion on Encyclopedia Titanica concerning the possibility of raising a propeller from the wreck of Titanic for use in a memorial. Most members could not see the point of doing so, nor would such an effort be technologically feasible with today's salvage equipment. The original poster stuck vehemently to his idea despite it being untenable. I drew this to post on the board as a way of showing what would become of such a memorial left out in public. It would likely become covered in graffiti and garbage. Note all the gum on the propeller. Someone actually stuck gum on a piece of the ship's hull at an exhibit some time ago.

Here is my post that featured this picture on the ET message board.
